Photo therapy
Light is used widely in the treatment of acne. Light therapy is very beneficial and reduces the Acne lesions by 64%. Use of this therapy twice a week is very beneficial however for the better result this therapy must be done on regular basis. Different fluorescence sources are used like LED, lasers and different types of dichroic bulbs. Photo therapy is very effective for mild-moderate acne. Intense violet light is used for the treatment. Wavelength of light ranges from (405-420nm).
Porphyrin is a compound which is generated which in turns produces free radicals. Frequent exposure to these radicals kills bacteria as a result Acne lesions are not produced.
Deep penetrating light therapy
Deep penetrating light therapy also known as DPLT is widely used in medical treatment because of its uses.it really helps in the treatment of pain, acne, and wrinkles. Mixture of two lights work very well that is by mixing two lights blue and red light by mixing these two lights shows better results in Acne treatment 76% acne is reduced by this method.
Photodynamic therapy
ALA (delta-aminolevulinic acid) 70% of the Acne responded when a combination of two or more blue and violent light was used however this method is still under research.
Heat: heat can also be used in Acne treatment. Applying localized heat on Acne kills bacteria. No bacteria, no acne. Heat also effects and increases healing process.
