Why do fewer reps when working out get you bigger?
I read on a fitness forum that doing fewer reps will get you bigger, wheras increased reps will make you more toned and stronger.
I’d have thought that the more reps you do the bigger you’d grow?
Complete novice here!
Doing 8-12 reps with a weight that you have to push to get those 12 reps will build muscle. Any more than 12 is to burn more calories so you lose fat along with your cardio. Doing up to 6 reps is power-lifting. In Power-lifting You get stronger before you build muscle. So you’ll get strong But you wont build as much muscle mass but in Bodybuilding and sticking to the 8-12 rep range will build mass but the strength will come over time.
