Where should I get a gym membership?
Anytime Fitness is right down the street and I heard it is $36 a month, but I have seen Tan & Tone commercials saying they have no contract and it is 20 something a month. But Im wanting to lose weight and It doesnt look like tan & tone has all the equipment anytime fitness does.
Trust me on this – the closer the gym the better. My gym is right down the street from me, making it easy for myself and my wife to stop there on the way home from work and actually work out. If we had gone with some other place that was even slightly out of the way, we would never go.
Also – cheaper is not necessarily better. Not all gyms are equal. My old office building had a small workout room in its basement that I used for $12 a month, but it was composed of one treadmill, one elliptical, two step machines, a bike, six cable machines, and a sit-up bench. Oh, and someone left some ten pound dumbbells in there, too. I used it for 6 months and lost weight, but did not develop good tone or lose much fat because I couldn’t change it up enough. A fitness expert may have been able to use what was there in more creative ways, but the common joe like me is very limited in such an environment.
Based on what you’ve said, Anytime Fitness is the better choice because it’s closer and has a better selection of equipment. What good is saving $16 a month if your not going or if you’re plateaued anyway?
